Current Status
Leed Engineering and Construction Pty Ltd has been appointed by SA Water to deliver the Eastern Pipeline. The Eastern Pipeline is the first to be constructed under SA Water’s North South Interconnection System Project (NSISP). NSISP comprises a range of works across Adelaide to connect our northern and southern water supply networks.
The total length of the Eastern Pipeline is approximately 12 kilometres and will connect the new pump stations planned for Clapham and Wattle Park. A short section of pipeline on Grand Junction Road, connecting the Hope Valley water storage facility to pipe infrastructure in Hancock Road, is also included. Construction works are divided into the following smaller packages:
- Clapham to Springfield (approx. 4.2kms).
- Springfield to Wattle Park (approx. 7.9kms).
- Grand Junction Road pipeline (approx. 0.6kms).
Construction of the Eastern Pipeline commenced in early April 2011 and pipeline installation was completed at the end of December 2011. Some final testing and connections works have been underway since then along the pipeline alignment, including:
- pressure testing of the entire pipeline.
- repair of minor leaks.
- connections from the secondary pipeline laid in Glen Osmond and Beaumont to the local water supply network.
- final asphalt road surfacing and kerb reinstatement at a range of locations.
